eSIM Mexico: what you get

Networks
AT&T 5G, Telcel 5G
Speed
Up to 5G where the network has it, 4G elsewhere
Where your traffic comes out
Singapore. Websites see you there, not in the country you are visiting; streaming catalogues and apps that check your location go by that address.
After the daily allowance
A Daily Unlimited pass slows to 384 Kbps, 512 Kbps, or 1 Mbps until the next day. It is never cut off. How daily passes work
Top-ups
Add data to the same eSIM later, with no new QR code. A Daily Unlimited pass is bought for its full number of days and cannot be extended.
Buying ahead
Install any time within 180 days of purchase. For most plans the days start counting on the first connection at the destination, not at checkout.
Calls and SMS
Data only, with no phone number. Call over a messenger; a service that verifies you by SMS cannot reach this eSIM.

Mexico: the new SIM registry, and where the signal ends

Since 9 January 2026 every Mexican mobile line, prepaid ones included, has to be registered to a person: a CURP for residents, a passport for visitors, given when the line is activated. Buying a chip at a corner shop and walking out connected is over, and unregistered lines are being cut off on each carrier's schedule. A roaming eSIM is not a Mexican line, and there is nothing to register.

Coverage follows the towns. The cities, the resorts and the toll highways are well served, and the table above lists the networks this eSIM uses. The signal disappears on the jungle roads to the cenotes of Yucatán, along stretches of the Tulum beach road, on Highway 1 down the Baja peninsula, in the Copper Canyon and in the mountains of Oaxaca. Download the map before you drive.

This eSIM's traffic does not come out in Mexico — the table above says where — so some sites open in another language or currency, and a streaming service may show another country's catalogue. Nothing breaks. The eSIM carries data only, with no Mexican number; Uber and DiDi run on the account you already have.

Which plan for which trip

Messengers and maps are light. Video, calls and a laptop on a hotspot are what use data up.

How to install it

  1. 01

    Check your phone

It has to take an eSIM and must not be locked to a carrier. Does your phone support eSIM?

  2. 02

    Scan the QR code

After payment the QR code is on your order page. Scan it in the phone's settings — at home, over Wi-Fi.

  3. 03

Switch it on when you land

Turn on data roaming for the esimker line. It finds the network by itself.

Frequently asked questions

› Do I have to register with a passport, as for a Mexican SIM?

No. The registry that started in January 2026 covers Mexican lines. A roaming eSIM is not one and needs nothing registered.

› Does it work in Cancún, Playa del Carmen and Tulum?

In the towns and hotel zones, yes. On the Tulum beach road and at the cenotes inland expect a weak signal or none.

› Why do websites think I am in another country?

Because the eSIM's traffic reaches the internet outside Mexico. It is how most travel eSIMs work and it changes nothing about the connection.
