eSIM Central Asia: what you get
- Networks
- 4 networks in 4 countries and regions — listed below
- Speed
- Up to 5G where the network has it, 4G elsewhere
- Where your traffic comes out
- United Kingdom. Websites see that address in every country of the plan.
- After the daily allowance
- A Daily Unlimited pass slows to 384 Kbps, 512 Kbps, or 1 Mbps until the next day. It is never cut off. How daily passes work
- Top-ups
- Most packages can be topped up — the plan card says which. A Daily Unlimited pass is bought for its full number of days and cannot be extended.
- Buying ahead
- Install any time within 180 days of purchase. For most plans the days start counting on the first connection at the destination, not at checkout.
- Calls and SMS
- Data only, with no phone number. Call over a messenger; a service that verifies you by SMS cannot reach this eSIM.
Central Asia: four countries, four phone registers, none of them yours
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan each keep a register of handsets. A phone used with a local SIM has to be entered in it within about a month — with a fee in Uzbekistan — or it is cut off from the local networks, and a Silk Road route on four local SIMs means meeting that rule four times. These registers are about phones on local SIMs. A phone in international roaming is outside them, and a roaming eSIM is roaming in all four.
The plan is one allowance across the four, and a border changes nothing you have to do: Tashkent to Samarkand, over to Bishkek and on to Almaty on the same data. Turkmenistan is not part of it — hardly any travel plan includes it, and the internet there is slow and heavily filtered in any case. Plan that leg as offline.
The mountains decide the rest. On the Pamir Highway there is signal in the towns — Khorog, Murghab — and little between them, often only 2G; in the Wakhan valley expect none, and the same above the last village anywhere in Kyrgyzstan. The Kazakh steppe is empty between the cities. Carry offline maps and tell someone your route. The eSIM carries data only; Yandex Go is the taxi app in the cities.
Which plan for which trip
Messengers and maps are light. Video, calls and a laptop on a hotspot are what use data up.
How to install it
- 01
Check your phone
It has to take an eSIM and must not be locked to a carrier. Does your phone support eSIM?
- 02
Scan the QR code
After payment the QR code is on your order page. Scan it in the phone's settings — at home, over Wi-Fi.
- 03
Switch it on when you land
Turn on data roaming for the esimker line. It finds the network by itself.

Frequently asked questions
› Do I have to register my phone's IMEI in any of the four countries?
No. The registers apply to phones on local SIMs. A phone on a roaming eSIM is in international roaming and is outside them.
› Does it work in Turkmenistan?
No. The plan covers Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Treat Turkmenistan as an offline stretch.
› Is there signal on the Pamir Highway?
In Khorog, Murghab and the larger villages, yes, though often slow. Between them and in the Wakhan valley there is usually none.
