eSIM Southeast Asia: what you get
- Networks
- 13 networks in 7 countries and regions — listed below
- Speed
- Up to 5G where the network has it, 4G elsewhere
- Where your traffic comes out
- Hong Kong. Websites see that address in every country of the plan.
- After the daily allowance
- A Daily Unlimited pass slows to 128 Kbps or 384 Kbps until the next day. It is never cut off. How daily passes work
- Top-ups
- Add data to the same eSIM later, with no new QR code. A Daily Unlimited pass is bought for its full number of days and cannot be extended.
- Buying ahead
- Install any time within 180 days of purchase. For most plans the days start counting on the first connection at the destination, not at checkout.
- Calls and SMS
- Data only, with no phone number. Call over a messenger; a service that verifies you by SMS cannot reach this eSIM.
Southeast Asia: seven countries, and the one the loop usually adds
Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines on one allowance. The classic overland route — Bangkok, Siem Reap, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi — fits inside it, and so does Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bali. At a border there is nothing to do: the phone finds a partner network within a minute or two and the same data keeps counting down.
Laos is not in it, and Laos is the country the loop usually passes through, between northern Thailand and Vietnam. Myanmar and Brunei are missing too. If the slow boat to Luang Prabang is on your route, add a plan for Laos or expect to be on guesthouse Wi-Fi for that stretch.
This plan's traffic comes out in Hong Kong, as the table above shows. One consequence is worth knowing: ChatGPT and Claude are not offered in Hong Kong, so on this eSIM they decline to open, although they work on a local connection in Bangkok or Singapore — hotel Wi-Fi is the way round. Indonesia's registration of handsets, with its 90-day limit for tourists, is a rule for local SIMs and does not apply to a phone in roaming. The plan is prepaid and carries data only.
Which plan for which trip
Messengers and maps are light. Video, calls and a laptop on a hotspot are what use data up.
How to install it
- 01
Check your phone
It has to take an eSIM and must not be locked to a carrier. Does your phone support eSIM?
- 02
Scan the QR code
After payment the QR code is on your order page. Scan it in the phone's settings — at home, over Wi-Fi.
- 03
Switch it on when you land
Turn on data roaming for the esimker line. It finds the network by itself.

Frequently asked questions
› Does it work in Laos?
No. Laos, Myanmar and Brunei are not on this plan. It covers Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines.
› Why does ChatGPT say it is not available?
The plan's traffic comes out in Hong Kong, where ChatGPT and Claude are not offered. On hotel or café Wi-Fi they open as usual.
› What happens when I cross a border?
Nothing you need to do. The eSIM connects to a network in the next country and the allowance carries on.
