eSIM Indonesia: what you get
- Networks
- Fren/Hepi 4G, Indosat 5G, PT Natrindo Telepon Seluler 4G, Smartfren 4G, Telkomsel 5G, XL 4G
- Speed
- Up to 5G where the network has it, 4G elsewhere
- Where your traffic comes out
- Singapore. Websites see you there, not in the country you are visiting; streaming catalogues and apps that check your location go by that address.
- After the daily allowance
- A Daily Unlimited pass slows to 384 Kbps, 512 Kbps, or 1 Mbps until the next day. It is never cut off. How daily passes work
- Top-ups
- Add data to the same eSIM later, with no new QR code. A Daily Unlimited pass is bought for its full number of days and cannot be extended.
- Buying ahead
- Install any time within 180 days of purchase. For most plans the days start counting on the first connection at the destination, not at checkout.
- Calls and SMS
- Data only, with no phone number. Call over a messenger; a service that verifies you by SMS cannot reach this eSIM.
Indonesia and Bali: the phone registration rule, and how to stay out of it
Indonesia registers the IMEI of every phone that uses an Indonesian SIM. A visitor with a local SIM can register for free as a tourist, at the operator's counter with a passport, and that registration lasts 90 days; staying longer means declaring the phone at customs, where anything above 500 US dollars in value is taxed. People who miss the step find the SIM stops working.
Phones on international roaming are exempt, and a roaming eSIM is exactly that: no counter, no passport, no 90-day clock on the handset. For a two-week holiday it saves a queue at Ngurah Rai; for a long stay it saves the customs declaration. The plan's own validity still applies — look at the packages above for the long ones.
On Bali the coverage follows the people. Seminyak, Canggu, Ubud and the south are solid; Telkomsel holds up best in Uluwatu's cliffs, on Nusa Penida and on the Gili islands, where the others fade — the table above lists the networks this eSIM uses. A tourist SIM at the airport costs around 150,000–350,000 rupiah. The eSIM carries data only, with no Indonesian number; Gojek and Grab both work with the number you already have.
Which plan for which trip
Messengers and maps are light. Video, calls and a laptop on a hotspot are what use data up.
How to install it
- 01
Check your phone
It has to take an eSIM and must not be locked to a carrier. Does your phone support eSIM?
- 02
Scan the QR code
After payment the QR code is on your order page. Scan it in the phone's settings — at home, over Wi-Fi.
- 03
Switch it on when you land
Turn on data roaming for the esimker line. It finds the network by itself.

Frequently asked questions
› Do I need to register my phone's IMEI in Indonesia?
Not with this eSIM. IMEI registration applies to phones using an Indonesian SIM; roaming is exempt.
› Does it work on Nusa Penida and the Gilis?
In the villages and harbours, yes. Coverage on the small islands is thinner than on Bali itself.
› I am staying three months — is an eSIM still the right choice?
It avoids the customs registration a local SIM would need after 90 days. Pick a package long enough, or top it up.
